I was chatting to a real estate agent from the coast near Rockhampton (think Yeppoon area) last week. He was almost dead on his feet from the pace of his work selling houses at the moment.
The interesting part of the conversation was that in this wave, the buyers are not from Sydney and Melbourne as they were at the end of last year and early this year.
The latest crop of people moving north are from the Sunshine Coast – one of the most popular destinations for internal immigrants escaping COVID 19 lockdowns.
Has the big rush to Queensland coastal spots recreated the problems they were escaping in the first place – overpriced housing, crowding, high cost of living…?
